The Lumineers Information
Since 2005, The Lumineers have been creating music within the genres of alternative rock, folk rock, and Americana. Their members include Wesley Shultz on guitar and lead vocals, Neyla Pakarek on cello, mandolin, vocals, and piano, and Jeremiah Fraites on drums, percussion, vocals and mandolin. The band was originally based in Ramsey, New Jersey but has since relocated to Denver, Colorado.
Faites and Schultz began writing songs together in 2005. They met Pekarek through a Craigslist ad in Denver and signed a management deal with Onto entertainment in 2011. Onto fronted the band money to record an album how they wanted without any interference. The album was recorded in Seattle with producer Ryan Hadlock and was licensed to Decca Records. They began gaining attention in 2011 at open mics at the Meadowlark in Denver. Their first single, 'Ho Hey," was used in the CW's Hart of Dixie and gained national interest. In January of 2012 the band signed to Dualton Records.
On April 3, 2012 The Lumineers released their self-titled debut album. It peaked at No. 11 on the Billboard 200 chart. 'Ho Hey' was on the album and debuted at No. 90 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and later peaked at No. 17. In September the song reached No. 1 on the Alternative Radio Chart and No. 1 at commercial Triple A radio.
